Scotty McCreery heads back to high school, Reba heads back to TV and Vince Gill heads out of his record deal

So what's Scotty McCreery doing after wrapping up his tour with Brad Paisley...he's heading back to Garner, NC to play high school baseball. The high school senior says he had to try-outs just like all the others. "Singing don't really mean you can really play ball well. So, they had to see if I had a little something left in me. " Scotty will miss the first couple games before the tour wraps in March, but he believes he's up for the challenge. "I have a feeling though it's gonna be rough. I'm a pitcher, so I have a feeling when I get on the mound guys are gonna be taunting me and stuff. I'm just gonna blow it off and strike 'em out!"

Remember Reba's hit show "Reba?" Well she's back on a new sitcom! Reba McEntire and Tony Award winner Lily Tomlin will star in the ABC half-hour pilot “Malibu Country.” The show is about Reba Gallagher (McEntire) who, after her rock-star husband cheats on her, divorces him and moves her family from Nashville to a little house in Malibu. Tomlin will play Shirley, Reba’s warm and funny mother who joins the family in their move.

There's something wrong with this world when Paris Hilton has a record deal and not Vince Gill! Vince appeared at Universal Music Group's big show during the Country Radio Seminar since Vince's latest album, Guitar Slinger, is his last for Universal's MCA label after more than two decades with the company. Vince explained, “For the first time in 30 years, I don’t have a record label,” adding, “Don’t know that I want one.” As for MCA Vince said it’s been “sweet ride the last 23 years,” before performing a song from Guitar Slinger, which was released last fall.

Gary LeVox of Rascal Flatts has two girls who are growing up fast and starting to notice things they didn't before...like the fact that he has to wear stage makeup. Gary's daughters are now 12 and 7 and he says, "It just it goes so fast. You miss that smell of a one year old, you know? Now it's like, 'Really, is that make-up? Really, you have make-up on? And someone told you that you were allowed to wear make-up?'”

A countdown to George Strait retiring?? Let's hope not! King George made a rare acoustic appearance on the stage of the historic Ryman auditorium during the CRS yesterday and he told the crowd that he still has 3 more years or so left in him but wants to make sure that radio knows he will always remember what radio and the fans have done to support his career, even after he retires. I just want to know that we have more 3 years of the King!

Congratulations to Joe Nichols and his wife Heather- they are expecting their first baby this spring! “After trying to have a baby for so long, we are thrilled to announce that I am pregnant,” Heather says.
